We do not publish specific factual claims about collections, opening hours, fees, access rules, or provider credentials until they have been verified. Unverified sections stay in our internal system marked for research and never appear on a published page.

How we describe uncertainty

• We distinguish between what records generally contain and what a specific collection holds.
• We say when something varies by parish, denomination, or period.
• We describe what a service cannot guarantee alongside what it can do.
• We avoid language that implies certainty about ancestry or outcomes.

Corrections

If we publish something inaccurate, we correct it and update the review date. Substantive corrections to guidance pages are made openly rather than quietly.
